He has been an official member of the club for more than 50 years and has since experienced not only 3 relegations and promotions (the happenings in the 2020/21 season will not be discussed further here). One of the absolute highlights was winning the UEFA Cup in the 1996/97 season, which he experienced live in the stadium with his family, as well as the minutes championship in 2001 (“Champion of Hearts”). On numerous trips, he followed Schalke 04’s international matches with his wife or family, and personally attended almost every home match in the stadium. He has been actively involved in the club for years. In Dar Es Salam, Tanzania, he founded the first Schalke 04 fan club in Africa “Blue & White Africa” in 2013 and has been known as “Afrika-Kalle” ever since. He is also an active member of the board of trustees of the “Schalker Markt” foundation. The following videos were made at the foundation’s inaugural meeting. Among other things, the famous “Steigerlied” is performed, which is also played at all Schalke 04 home games.
