The joint life and work of Dr. Gisela Schulte-Daxbök and Prof. Dr. Karl-Werner Schulte began at a party in 1974, when Gisela Daxbök was approached by Karl-Werner Schulte.

When exactly Prof. Dr. Karl-Werner Schulte’s heart began to beat for Africa cannot be traced back precisely. A trip to Morocco in the mid-1980s counts as one of his earliest visits to the African continent. By 2001 at the latest, he developed an inner connection and great love for Africa.

Prof. Dr. Karl-Werner Schulte and these rugged rocks called Iceland somewhere in the middle of nowhere between Scandinavia and Greenland share an intimate friendship. Even in his early years, his first journeys led him to Iceland, first with his brother and friends.

Like many people from Westphalia, Prof. Karl-Werner Schulte was confronted with the question at an early age: black-yellow or blue-white? He decided on the latter and became an ardent supporter of the Royal Blues from Gelsenkirchen-Schalke.
